Healthy Low Back and Hips for Paddlers January 26, 2019, Saturday or March 9, 2019, Saturday 2~5 pm Bellevue, WA
The legs and trunk core are the power houses for paddling. However, the hours of practice spend sitting in the boat can severely reduce lower body flexibility, and therefore increase the chance of injury. Come to this 3-hour yoga workshop to learn how to prevent low back pain, and to keep your hips healthy for any seated paddling sport. This workshop includes an introduction to back and hips anatomy, followed by a hands-on portion to learn how to maintain the flexibility of your hips and strengthen your back to meet the demands of paddling. We will touch on paddling-specific tips to prevent lower back injuries and to keep you healthy for top paddling performance. Come with an open mind, in comfortable yoga or workout clothing, and be ready to learn! Please bring a notebook if you like to jot notes.
No prior yoga experience necessary. Not suitable for those who currently have low back injuries. Early registration (valid until January 11, 2019 for January session; February 22, 2019 for March session): $55 TSNW members and 65+: $55 Regular: $60
Healthy Shoulders for Everyday Life February 23, 2019, Saturday 2~4 pm Bellevue, WA
Do you want stronger and healthier shoulders to enhance your sports performance, such as paddling, golf or ball games? Want to eliminate shoulder pains from every day hunching-forward driving or at your desk? If so, this yoga workshop is for you! This 2-hour program includes a lecture with an overview of shoulder anatomy and tips for shoulder injury prevention, followed by an active portion to learn how to strengthen your shoulders and maintain its flexibility. Come with an open mind, in comfortable yoga or workout clothing, and be ready to learn! Please bring a notebook if you like to jot notes.
